How to setup VPN on Asus Router

Asus VPN compatible routers:

RT-N66U, RT-AC56U, RT-AC66U, RT-AC68U, RT-AC87U, RT-AC5300, RT-AC3200, RT-AC3100, RT-AC1750, RT-AC88U, RT-AC66R, RT-AC55U
  1. Login to your Asus router admin page ( http://192.168.1.1 or http://router.asus.com )

  2. Click on VPN under Advanced Settings from left panel

  3. Click on VPN Client and Select "Add Profile"

  4. You will see a pop-up window and select "L2TP" or "PPTP"

  • Description: SwitchVPN or any name you would like to assign

  • VPN Server: us-sv.switchnetwork.me ( List of all VPN gateways )

  • Username : Your VPN username

  • Password: Your VPN password

  • Auto-reconnect : ON (recommended)

Click on OK and click on "Activate", once it is successfully connected you should see a "Tick" under connection status. 


For OpenVPN :

  1. Follow the same steps mentioned above till step 3

  2. After you click on Add Profile, Select OpenVPN

  3. Download .ovpn file which we will require in next step from https://switchvpn.net/ovpn

  • Description: SwitchVPN or any name you would like to assign

  • Username: Your VPN username

  • Password: Your VPN password

  • Import .ovpn file, click on Choose file and select the .ovpn file you have downloaded in step 3 and click on upload

  • once uploaded click on OK and click on "Activate"

You should see a "Tick" under connection status once it is successfully connected.
