SwitchVPN for Mac: Tunnelblick Setup for Newer macOS Versions

Set up your macOS device with SwitchVPN using Tunnelblick in just a few minutes!

✅ What you’ll need

  • A Mac running macOS

  • Your SwitchVPN username & password (emailed to you after signup, or you can always find it in your SwitchVPN dashboard)

  • The SwitchVPN OpenVPN config files (you can download them here):

📝 Quick Setup Guide

1️⃣ Install Tunnelblick

  1. Go to https://tunnelblick.net

  2. Click “Download Latest Stable Release”.

  3. Open the downloaded .dmg file and drag Tunnelblick to your Applications folder.

  4. Open Tunnelblick (you may need to right-click → Open → then confirm Open).

2️⃣ Get your VPN username & password

  • After purchase, your SwitchVPN username & password are emailed to you.

  • You can also always view them inside your dashboard:
    🔗 Login to Dashboard → Click VPN Subscriptions → Select your VPN → see your VPN Credentials.

3️⃣ Download and import your VPN configs

  1. Click the link above to download your OpenVPN configuration zip.

  2. Find the SwitchOVPN.zip in your Downloads, and double-click to unzip it.

  3. Inside, you’ll see multiple .ovpn files (for different server locations).

4️⃣ Add them to Tunnelblick

  1. Select all the .ovpn files you want (or just one to start).

  2. Double-click them — Tunnelblick will ask if you want to install.
    ✅ Choose "Only Me" (or "All Users" if you want).

  3. Done! They’re now added to Tunnelblick.

5️⃣ Connect to SwitchVPN

  1. Click the Tunnelblick icon (top-right of your Mac menu bar).

  2. You’ll see the VPN locations you added.
    Click Connect on any one.

  3. Enter your SwitchVPN username & password when prompted.
    ✅ You can save them in your Mac Keychain for next time.

🎉 That’s it!

You’re now securely connected with SwitchVPN on your Mac.

Tunnelblick’s icon will show dark / tunnel connected when active.
You can switch servers or disconnect anytime from the menu.
